Boca Juniors beat Belgrano 1-0 in the last minute, when Emmanuel Gigliotti scored. The “Xeneize” won their first match in the semester.

In a close game, the most interesting things happened in the two additional minutes. Firstly, Guillermo Farré made a great pass to César Mansanelli, who could not define accurately into the goal area. Agustín Orion reacted perfectly to save the shot.

Then, Boca responded: assisted by Federico Carrizo, Emmanuel Gigliotti headed from inside the penalty area to the right of the goal. The effort of Juan Carlos Olave, Belgrano’s goalkeeper, was not enough to prevent the goal.

Before that, there were not so many clear actions in the match. At the 28th minute, Carrizo executed a good shot, though the ball hit the bar. The local team tried by César Pereyra’s longshot, but Orion was careful to remove the danger.

The bad news of the night was Fernando Gago’s injury. The midfield was substituted by Gonzalo Castellani in the half time, and will take tests to determine the severity of his case.

“In my opinion, Boca played a great match against a difficult team”, explained Carlos Bianchi after the victory. Boca’s next match will be on August 24th at 6:15 p.m. (Argentina time), against Atlético de Rafaela in “The Bombonera”.
