Boca Juniors won 3-2 against Godoy Cruz in Mendoza. Gago, Martínez and Calleri scored for the “Xeneize”. After losing against Deportivo Capiatá in the Copa Sudamericana, Boca should have reacted in the local tournament. Fortunately, in Mendoza, the “Xeneize” broke the deadlock on the 9th minute; Fernando Gago shot from outside the area, the ball bounced off Diego Rodríguez and ended up into the right of the goal. This was the second goal of Gago in Boca Juniors. Then, Godoy Cruz responded with an execution of Jaime Ayoví, though Agustín Orion reacted perfectly. Boca was able to increase the difference in the scoreboard, but José Fuenzalida’s shot was blocked by Sebastián Moyano. On the 43rd minute, the local team tied the match. Orion saved two consecutive headers, though Rolando García Guerreño scored on the rebound. The defenders made a lot of mistakes and the rival took advantage of them. Once again, Lisandro Magallán was not attentive to the Ecuadorian forward. Rodolfo Arruabarrena made two successful substitutions and the team’s performance improved. In their first action, before doing a give-and-go with Jonathan Calleri, Juan Manuel Martínez executed a great cross shot over the keeper to tie the game. In the last minutes, any of both teams could have won the match. Nicolás Colazo and Daniel González deflected their kicks, but Calleri was the one that did not fail. On the 81st minute, he scored the winning goal, assisted brilliantly by Gago. Boca’s next match will be on October 23rd at 9:15 p.m. (Argentina time) against Deportivo Capiatá, for the second leg of the eight-finals of the Copa Sudamericana. Boca need to win, at least, 1-0 to force penalties. League Table: River, 28 points; Lanús, 24; Independiente, 23; Racing, 22; Boca, 20.
