Boca Juniors defeated Olimpo 1-0 in Bahía Blanca. In the last fifteen minutes, Gigliotti scored the goal.

After the victory of River, the leader of the Torneo de Transición, Boca was made to beat Olimpo in order to stay in the title race.

In Bahía Blanca, the local team had the first action of the match. Cristian Villanueva executed a long shot, though it was easy for Agustín Orion.

On the 13th minute, Miguel Borja was sent off for a head-butt to Mariano Echeverría. With numerical advantage, the “Xeneize” had the bulk of the possession, but they could not break Olimpo’s strong defense, who was in a tight block, near the area.

Boca’s fans had to wait until the second half to see a better version of the team. Jonathan Calleri received a good pass into the penalty area from Marcelo Meli, but the forward was not accurate in the definition. It was a warning. A few minutes later, Emmanuel Gigliotti scored the goal: he headed from inside the box to the right of the goal, assisted by Fernando Gago.

Since Rodolfo Arruabarrena took over as Boca’s coach, things are looking up. The performance of the team is coming along very well, completely different from Bianchi’s period. “We have to improve”, said the coach, beyond the victory.

The next match will be on September 14th at 6:15, against Racing in the Bombonera.
